After a decade of misadventures and wild speculation, Fenn proclaimed in June 2020 that the treasure had finally been found. The identity of the discoverer was kept secret at first, adding still another layer of mystery. At last it was revealed that Jack Stuef, a medical student from Michigan, had found the chest somewhere in Wyoming, bringing the saga to an end.

A Chest Filled With Loot
The valuables found in the chest were auctioned off in December 2022, and fetched $1.3 million in total. As for the secret hiding place of the treasure, Mr Stuef has kept the exact location secret. Most speculate that it was found within the boundaries of Yellowstone National Park, and Stuef has said that he did find the chest in Wyoming but hasn’t yet been any more specific than that.
