42. This Guy Probably Didn’t Get Back to Sleep Any Time Soon...

Heard my dog walking around at midnight, you know, nails hitting the floor.

Got annoyed that he was waltzing all over the place, and I couldn't sleep, so I shouted "freaking stop with your stuff already" from my bed. Sounds stopped. Realized a moment later that he's been dead for a year and there's no one else supposed to be in the house.

Ran around with my baseball bat in my hand for 10 minutes but couldn't find anything... or anyone...

41. An Enigma Wrapped in a Riddle

A guy came up to me with money and asked me how many legs a cat has and I said four but he said "no they have six legs including their ears" and he moved on.

40. An Uninvited Guest

Woke up one night to see my mom looking into my room watching me sleep. Asked her what she wanted and she just shut my door.

Took a few minutes for my sleep-addled brain to realize I was 25 years old and living on my own at the time. What followed was a thorough search by a naked sleepy man holding a chopping knife looking for whoever was in his apartment.

All the doors were locked, all the windows were locked, and no one else was there.

39. Old Habits Die Hard

I had a cat who would come and lie down next to my back when I was sleeping on my side. He did this every morning after he ate breakfast. My girlfriend told him it was his job after I had been through a bout of depression.

After he died I could feel the pressure of his body for about a week.

38. Proof of a Parallel Universe? (I Laughed)

I stopped at a traffic light and looked to my right at the driver beside me. We then both raised a banana to our mouths and took a bite at the same exact time. He looked shocked, I looked incredulous, then I turned left and he drove off as fast as he could.

Weird stuff.

36. What Was He Trying to Hide?

When I was at my old job, I was out on the back deck smoking a cigarette when I saw a beautiful classic mustang pull in. So I'm watching the car waiting to see who is going to get out of it, when this guy who gets out wearing Stewie Griffin pajamas and a Harvard sweatshirt, he looks around until he spots the used grease bin.

He starts walking over to it rolling his sleeves up and he spots me. He stopped dead in his tracks with a look on his face like I had just caught him in the act of murder. Without breaking eye contact he just walked backwards, got back into his car and floored it out of the parking lot.

35. Up to No Good

I was shopping at a grocery store and I caught a guy staring at me out of the corner of my eye. He seemed to be following me around the store but I was almost done and about to leave so I didn't really worry about it. On my way to the checkout, I put a cereal box from my cart back on the shelf. That's when the guy ran up, grabbed that exact box I had just placed back, and ran for the checkout.

34. The Fat Lady Has Sung on That Guy

One day in class during school, I looked out the window near the parking lot and saw some a guy dressed like a freaking viking. Like full on grey beard, metal hat, shiny armor, and all of that jazz. He was just standing there in the middle of the road lookin' like he was fresh outta 800 AD. Only myself and one other girl saw him outside, and when the teacher came over to see what the commotion was he totally DISAPPEARED.

Why the heck was there a viking man at my high school? Where did he go? Why did no one else see him?

33. Mustard Is Not the Answer

I watched a rather large woman walking a little ahead of me start yelling to herself something about "20 years they've been doing this. 20 years." She then proceeded to pull out a food service glove (the see-through kind the people behind the deli counter wear) and put it on, then take out a bottle of dijon mustard (I think it may have been grey poupon), squirt a huge glob in the gloved hand and just smear it all over her hair and face.

31. Exhibit A

I found a CD-ROM with the word "evidence" written on it in sharpie in some thrift store. When I brought it home and played it, it turned out to be an episode of Grey's Anatomy. Why?

30. Drama Already in Progress

One morning my girlfriend and I went to 7/11 to buy bus tickets and right when we were about to pay the cashier, a ratchet looking man barges out of the bathroom covered in blood from head to toe with bloodshot eyes.

He swiftly walks to my side and yells at the cashier shouting, "You can keep this!" As he violently threw a pack of skittles at the counter. The cashier then calls out saying, "Wait-!" But the man ran out of the store. The cashier then shook his head and casually said, "Sorry about that." And everything went back to normal like nothing happened.

I have no idea what the backstory to that was.

29. Didn’t Have a Pickup Line Ready

Weirdest thing that I've seen: In about 2008 or so, I was driving home through Chickasha, Oklahoma at about midnight. I passed a guy who was walking along the side of the road wearing a short, white toga and a full-face rubber pig mask. He was carrying a long spear over one shoulder. (By long, I mean about ten feet long.)

This was right in the middle of town and it was not Halloween. I was sober and am sane. At the time, it was obvious to me that it was a man in a mask, not a pig-headed guy. There has to be a story there. I almost circled the block to ask him. Now, I really wish I had. Mysterious pig man, if you read this, respond and let me know.

28. To Thine Own Selves Be True

This happened twice, once in 1978 and again in 2015.

In 1978 my parents and my siblings were near Yosemite and while we were preparing for sunset, there was another family identical to mine. Same appearance, style, mom, dad, 2 daughters, and 2 sons. I couldn't tell the age but they were roughly the same. However, the weird part was their sense of style, hair and everything was identical to us. What freaked me was that the entire family had this really weird staring into the abyss looks. In comparison to us we were a bunch of goofy looking people lol.

My parents went over to meet them because we needed something my mom forgot to pack, so they began talking briefly and departed. Later on the car ride home, I asked my family if anyone noticed how similar we all were. Everyone laughed at me so that was the end of that.

In 2015 during my father's funeral, I kid you not, I saw the same exact family except it was only the mom, and the children just walking. (They did not age, and I am 100% sure it was the same people). However, they were just walking dressed in black and were not part of our funeral (We live in Washington but the funeral happened in Montana).

But yeah, after that incident, I came home and saw this thread and thought it was perfect, because it didn't have a serious tag on it.

27. A Hidden Talent

I was working security at a music festival and things were still getting set up, vendors, beer garden etc. I was at the gate where trucks were coming in with supplies and equipment, checking people in and making sure they were supposed to be there. Big trucks rolling in on the dirt road, carrying porta potties and all sorts of stuff. Then I see a little lizard maybe four inches long in the middle of the road, it’s Washington and we don’t have a lot of lizards so it was kinda unusual to see one.

Being a reptile lover I wanted to go grab the little guy and put him in the bushes so he didn't get flattened. I will never know why I did this as it makes absolutely no sense and goes against everything I know about wildlife but I sank down to my knees and put my hands together palm up on the ground. The lizard ran toward me across the road about 7 or 8 feet and climbed right into my hands. In awe I stood up and carried him to the bushes set him down and he skittered away. The guy on shift with me was staring at me mouth literally agape.

For the rest of the event when ever he saw me he would point at me and say "Lizard girl!" and tell the story to who ever he was with. Totally one of the coolest nature moments I have experienced. I have absolutely no clue how or why it happened but there it is.

26. Secret Underworld

Was having dinner in Paris when across the street I noticed a guy running along the street with a backpack. He stops at a manhole cover, opens it up, jumps down and the lid closes. I told my family but they were having none of it. They thought I was drunk (strong accusations to someone who doesn't drink alcohol).

Then about thirty minutes later the manhole cover slides open and up jumps 4 people with headlamps and backpacks on. They quickly closed the cover and ran away. It was one of the strangest sights I've seen in my life. Thankfully everyone else at our table saw it too.

25. Secret Admirer

I have very vivid memories of seeing a black, shadowy figure moving around in an apartment I lived in when I was little. I always screamed for my mom and she tried telling me that it was just a shadow of someone in the apartment, but it wasn't. I watched it, from my bedroom, walk across the wall from the living room to my parents room. It even stopped and turned to look at me once.

24. Sharp Dressed Man

At my cousin's communion my two brothers and I both saw a dude in a white suit with a hat and sunglasses, all mafia-style, in front of the church. The thing was that we all saw him at different times and only for a second - when we looked back he was gone.

No one else saw him and none of us saw him again.

It was really weird and I still don't understand, especially because his outfit really stood out so more people should have seen him. We just felt like we were in the beginning of a movie.

23. Drive Safe

About 12 years ago I was driving a friend home to her house in the middle of the woods and took a turn kind of fast and almost lost control, at the same time we both saw a bright flash come off the ground, definitely not lightning, couldn't explain it.

Another 2 friends from the area have seen a green orb which shot off as if it was afraid it had been noticed. They both never spoke of it until a few years later for the fear of sounding crazy.

22. Lights, Turn Green ASAP!

When I was out driving, I stopped at a red light and looked at the driver next to me. He was staring in his rear view mirror and pulling on his face, like it was a Mission: Impossible mask he was trying to rip off. I really wish I could go back and ask that guy what he was doing. Did he just suddenly get curious about how far his skin could stretch? Was he having a bad acid trip? What?

21. Unexplained Opinions

I was walking down the street and I heard this woman who sounded really concerned about this topic saying," ya know what we need instead of a one dollar bill? We need a six dollar bill because that's so much more practical!"

I really want to think she wasn't joking.

20. Silhouettes on the Shade

Just me and my daughter alone in the house one night. She pointed at the top corner of a room and asked "what is that man's name?" She got very upset at me when I told her there is no one there after she repeatedly asked me that question. Needless to say, all the lights stayed on that night...

My husband's theory after I told him the story is that from where my daughter was standing, the vents and the window kind of looks like a face if you kind of squint at it and look at it from the corner of your eye.

Another time, before my daughter could speak. She was looking over my shoulder at the doorway. And then she got really excited and was waving at someone. I thought it was my husband coming home from work. Turned around, no one was there.

19. An Evolving Roommate

As a kid, I used to see a snake on my bed every freaking night, until I told my mom about it. 15 years later I started seeing a tall shadow by my bed every now and then. I couldn't shout, couldn't move, just closed my eyes and fell asleep in 3 seconds every time. Once it talked to me and said I was going to die that same day.

Even though I couldn't breathe, I fell asleep immediately. It stopped happening when I noticed that I always saw it after a heavy meal and so now I won't eat after 7 pm. Since I've changed my habits I haven't seen it and gotten nightmares anymore.

18. Turning Point

Ok, so this happened to be a New Year’s back and to this day is the weirdest thing that I've ever experienced.

I was in the airport, getting ready for my flight home - was travelling because of work reasons. Since I was with a couple of other coworkers, I got there a couple of hours earlier - my flight was the later one.

Checked in, got my boarding pass. Since I am terrified of missing a flight, I usually just find my gate and wait there until boarding. I did the same this time. Sitting at the gate (I double-triple check info on ticket and gate, I'm just that paranoid), playing candy crush. It's quiet around me - only a couple of folks sitting not too far. But it's still over an hour away.

I continue playing, casually eavesdropping on the conversation of the couple of people a row away from me - they work in the airport fast food place. There was some drama, someone was talking smack about someone, it was kind of entertaining.

I heard the various boarding announcements, watching people come and go through the nearby gates. All is well - I'd be home soon. Glancing at my watch - soon, almost there. It's about 45 min before the flight, the boarding should be starting any minute.

But it's quiet. No people come by the gate. I look around. The flight attendants are standing quietly at the terminal post (by the gate), just shuffling stuff on their desk. Confused, I ask them - When is the boarding for the flight XXX?"  They look back at me equally confused - it's over, we did the last call 15 minutes ago. The plane is leaving the gate right now.”

"Was there a gate change to (hometown, flight#)?" - my confusion, as well as anxiety starts to slowly rise. They tell me, no, no gate changes. Boarding was announced and completed as normal.

"Are you sure? I was sitting right there! There were no people around me, no one boarded!" - I point to my seat a couple of rows away from their desk. They just shake their heads, looking at me with suspicions.

I stand there dumbfounded. How can this be - I wasn't asleep, I didn't leave. I was wide awake and aware of my surroundings through all this time. But the clock is correct. It's way past the time - the plane is leaving. I start crying. The attendants take pity on me and give me the number for the airline service to change my flight.

At that point, I walk through the airport bawling - mostly because I feel like I'm in one of those movies where someone time travels and no one believes them. That somehow reality's been altered, and no one realizes it. I'm an adult, sober, no drugs - but I feel like I am losing my mind. I don't think I've ever been so terrified in my life.

I realized what people who lose their mind must be feeling. How utterly terrifying it is. How can this small, by comparison, incident make me question the reality I am in.

I was afraid to ask the people that were talking (fast food workers) : Hey, did you see me sitting here - was I awake?! Because I heard you talking! (yeah, not weird at all).

I got a seat on the flight about 5-6 hrs from then. The odd thing, during that time I called my sister because I was just terrified and alone at that airport, and we spent a long time talking about things that I've avoided talking about. Things like losing my faith, terrible depression, and a thankfully failed suicide attempt. I came clean about how badly I needed help. And we just talked.

It was already dark when I got on that flight. I felt stronger and more grounded than I had for the longest time. I was ready to go back home, fight for myself, and find professional help. The seat that I got was the crappiest one - at the very tail of the plane, next to the lavatories. It smelled there. It was cramped and hot and the turbulence was bad. But for once, none of it mattered - whatever the reason was that made me miss my own flight - it saved my life.

After that, I got counselling, was put on anti-depressant medication. I started going back to social activities, and eventually back to the church. I also started to be more open about my depression and anxiety, especially to my family.

17. Super Speed?

I was marching in my town's Memorial Day parade. I was with my church for the VBS promotion float. About halfway through the parade I realized that I had kept on seeing the same guy taking pictures of our float. We would walk 100 feet down the road and I would look to the right and see the same guy taking more pictures of our float. After 3 or 4 times of noticing this I pointed it out to someone else.

For the rest of the parade every hundred feet or so we would look over to the right and see this guy standing there taking pictures of our float among the crowd. We would watch him to see if he was making a mad dash to get ahead of us after we passed him but we never saw him move from where he was standing, yet he somehow magically appeared to our right every so often.

By the end of the parade we had like 5 people watching for this guy and every single person swears that they never saw him move but kept on seeing him taking pictures of our float. From the time that I noticed him to the time that the parade was over I must have seen him probably 15 times.

No clue why this guy was so interested in our float because it was nothing special but yet he was eagerly bent over looking through the viewfinder snapping picture after picture after picture of us. He was not a member of the church; the church was small enough that I knew everyone in it at the time and I never seen him before. I definitely still wonder about it to this day.

16. A Little Attention Goes a Long Way

I'm actually at my childhood house right now in the same room that it happened. We're selling the house and it's empty now but I can still remember when I was about 10 and I was up late by myself watching tv because I was sick and couldn't sleep.

Do you know how every family has the old, forgotten treadmill in the back of their family room that ends up being used to put stuff on? We had one of those. I remember thinking that I heard it turn on and I looked back into the corner of the room and I didn't hear it anymore. Mind you treadmills are pretty loud so I was confused because I definitely heard it turn on. Just as I finish contemplating this and return back to watching tv the treadmill suddenly turns on high speed, throws all of the boxes off of it, and keeps running. I then ran as fast as I could to my mom's room, told her what happened, and fell asleep.

I thought maybe I had been sick and tired and just imagined it but when I got up in the morning the boxes indeed were sitting behind the treadmill because they had been thrown off. I have no idea what to make of this event.

Maybe the treadmill just actually wanted someone to run on it for once.

15. You Can Never Unread This One

About 2 years ago, I was around 24, I used to go into this gas station every morning before work to get coffee and cigarettes. I went in one morning, it was around 4 a.m. and I was the only customer there. The cashier was a young white male that I had seen several times before, but this gas station seemed to have a high turnover rate because it seemed like there would be a new employee I had never seen before working there at least once a week.

Anyway, I walked into the store and went straight to the left and fixed my coffee. After that, I walked around to the next aisle and grabbed a pack of gum and then went up to the cash register. I sat the coffee and the gum on the counter and the guy just stood there staring at me for like 10 seconds. It was really awkward and at first I couldn't think of anything to say. After like those 10 seconds I told him that I also needed a pack of cigarettes. Right after I finished speaking, he backed up a few feet and he had his private part in his hand and it was pouring blood.

I freaked out and ran out of the store, I didn't know what to do to help him. I ran to my car and called the police and told them to send an ambulance. Like I said, I was freaked out and didn't know what to do and was hoping with an ambulance on the way he would be alright. I realized if I didn't hurry I was going to be late for work so I decided there wasn't anything else I could do so I left.

I went through the whole day hoping he was alright and wondering what else I could have done. Later that day when I got off I figured I would stop at the gas station and ask whoever was working there at the time if they knew how he was doing, but believe it or not, that gas station this happened at that morning, and that I had been going into every day for over a year wasn't even there.

Like there was nothing there on that side of the highway, just trees. I felt like something snapped in my mind and I still 2 years later feel like something isn't right with me. I went home and called my family and friends of mine and none of them remember a gas station ever being there. After that I never told anyone else or brought it up to anyone because I'm scared they will think I'm crazy. Nothing else weird has happened to me since then but I know I must be insane, I feel like my whole life is a lie.

14. Creeped-Out Critter

August 1998, I'm in the passenger seat of my uncle's truck as we are driving up the windy gravel road to his friend's cabin, which is in a very, very remote, forested part of Washington state. As we reach the top of the hill, I am about to get out of the truck when he says "Hey, don't move, but...look" in kind of a sharp whisper, pointing to the patch of trees surrounding the parking area.

I'm looking but not seeing anything, when this thing moves out across the edge of the gravel lot onto another group of trees. I kid you not, it's a freaking upright walking ape!! It must have been a young one because it was only about 5 1/2 feet tall, but it freezes, looks in our direction, kind of moves its head around in a circular motion like an owl, then stops and crouches down. I'll never forget the expression on its face, the poor thing looked almost comically TERRIFIED. Like, it had a visible frown.

My uncle tells me to slowly open the door so we can try to approach it, but as soon as he opens his door, the thing kind of grabs a small handful of gravel and sticks and chucks it in our direction, then books it through the treeline. My heart was racing and it took a long time to calm down after that. I suspected that was the first time either of us had seen something like that, but surprisingly my uncle's response was "I haven't seen one of those since the 70s." I guess he had seen one hiking in the Olympic National Forest a long time ago.

We kind of combed the perimeter after the encounter looking for any evidence about an hour later, and even went into the woods to look around, but never saw it, or anything like it ever again. One thing I do remember is that it smelled like absolute doodoo near where we saw this thing for a few hours after. I will never, ever forget that day.

13. Who’s in Charge Over There?

I got a case for a calculator off of Amazon, didn't like it, put it in a drawer. Was planning to return it, but never got around to it. Amazon said that they had received the case that I had "returned," so I asked my parents if they had returned it, but they said no. I opened my drawer and it was still there.

12. Lost in Time?

When I was around 11, back in the early 90s, I was playing basketball with some friends. Clear blue skies. Nice breeze. Perfect summer day. Until we hear an insanely loud "SCREEEEEEEEECH" from above us.

We looked up and saw what appeared to be a freaking PTERODACTYL! Leathery wings, elongated beak, the whole shebang. Wingspan of 15 feet, easy. Just soaring above us. It sounded out again and just flew off, into the distance. It couldn't have been more than fifty feet above us. We ran inside and told my aunt and uncle. They laughed. Over the next 22 years of my life, only 2 people have ever believed me. Everyone else thought I was either mistaken or lying. But I know what I saw. Probably a giant terrifying hawk to be honest, but I still can't explain the experience.

11. So Many Questions

A few years ago my wife and I were driving east on Washington Highway 20. This is a narrow twisting mountain road that crosses the North Cascades and is closed in winter because of snow with no towns for many miles.

About 20 miles east of Newhalem (the last permanent thing for the next 70 miles, not even a town really) we pass a homeless person pushing a shopping cart up the pass going east.

We came back on that same road a few days later and there was shopping cart person a few miles more east, pushing that cart. A few weeks later, the same person had managed to cross Washington Pass and was now going down hill, but still a good 20 miles from anything at all.

Now the nearest town that might conceivably even have a store with shopping carts was 70 miles to the west of where we first saw this person.

This left so many unanswered questions. Where did this person come from? Where did the cart come from? How long were they traveling? Where were they going? How did they eat? How the heck did a shopping cart survive being pushed for weeks and possibly months on a mountain highway? So many questions.

10. Floating Through Life

I had an out of body experience. I was in my room and happened to fall asleep on the floor. Next thing I know I’m like floating around my room and my body is still on the floor. I wasn't freaking out or anything, it was actually a calming feeling. So I floated around the house, I remember specifically seeing my grandma in her room knitting a light purple, yellow and green blanket (it was for Easter), watching a specific show and drinking coffee.

Next I went into my mom’s room and she was organizing her closet (purses and shoes everywhere). I started to feel heavy and decided to go back into my room and I started floating down into my body and waking up. My body felt tired and I didn't feel like moving, but I wanted to go check on my mom and grandma. Both were doing exactly what I saw them doing when I was "floating around" freaked me out.

9. Without a Trace

A while back I was in NYC with some friends and we noticed this weird story on a newspaper (maybe the Times?) about a girl who had fallen from on high in Union Square, possibly off a building. The girl got up, apparently unharmed, and ran off into the crowd of onlookers. The police looked into this, but didn't have much luck until an anonymous envelope containing the picture of this girl was delivered to them.

The picture was included in the newspaper story. We thought this was pretty interesting, so the minute we got home we googled the story and...got nothing. We've never seen any articles on this girl, anywhere. Everybody we've asked about the story, including people who live or work around Union Square, claims that they've never heard anything about it. This was about three or four years ago and we've found NOTHING.

I live in TX so I still haven't been able to make it to NYC Public Library to look through old newspapers. Will when I finally make it back.

8. Is There an Exorcist in the House?

Actually experienced this. I was 3 or 4 years old at our family's summer cabin when I got extremely sick out of nowhere. My temperature started spiking and no one knew what was wrong. Apparently I was sweating out puddles and my family was getting ready to take me to the hospital when my uncle said he wanted to try something.

I was laying on the couch crying when he started to pray over me for a couple minutes. The second he put his hands on me after the prayer, my family says I shot up to a sitting position, flat as a board, and puked everywhere. Temperature started to go down and they never took me to the hospital. Still just weirds me the heck out, 20-something years later.

7. Someone Shed Some Light On This One…

Me and my buddy were driving home late one night, and for a split second, a green laser shined right into our eyes. The road we were on had a slight bend to the left, just enough for the post office to stick past the other buildings on the right side of the road. I’m not absolutely sure, but I believe it came from the post office, even though it was like 2 or 3 in the morning.

The light shined into my eyes for about 2 seconds or so and then shifted over to my friend, who was driving. I thought I was gonna get my face shot out and all I did was say "oh no" instead of ducking or something. My buddy definitely saw it too, and we kept going down the road and the whole way down we saw no one, and we'll never find out exactly wtf who and/or what it was.

6. Right Time, Right Place

I was 17 and struggling with depression, so I went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and was going to attempt suicide. As I was contemplating, there was a power surge (which rarely happened at my house). The microwave and stove clocks were blinking, so I definitely didn't imagine it. I texted my mom who was in her bedroom and I asked if there was a power surge and she said that she had been watching TV and the power never went out in her room.

So I put the knife down and rethought my choices.

Late in the night (12am or so) me and a couple buddies decided to take some LSD. First thing that happens is my one friend butt dials the police. So we panic slightly and figure we just call them back and tell them we accidentally called. Everything simmers down and we start to enjoy ourselves.

At some point soon after, we left my house to take a walk when we turned the corner and saw a man come out of an SUV with a kilt on.

As we got closer the man turned out to be wearing a police uniform; uniform on top and kilt on bottom. He had all sorts of weird stuff in his trunk too, like a busted rake, some plastic chairs, and a garden gnome statue thing.

We passed him silently, pupils giant with drug-infused confusion, while making super awkward eye contact. Then, when he was out of earshot, we all frantically stammer and confirm with each other what we just saw.

So we're laughing and still confused. We keep walking and the SUV comes driving at us with police lights on. We get out of the way and the kilted man just drives right past us like we weren't even there.

None of our friends believe us to this day.

4. A Never-Starting Story

A coworker of mine keeps continuing conversations no one ever started.

First thing Monday morning, he doesn't give us a Hello, no Good morning, just "then I couldn't get my wifi to work, so I ended up using my phone's data plan to get my Xbox online, which is why I wasn't on very much this weekend."

Except I don't play any games with him, and I don't follow him, and at no point have we ever talked about this.

I swear he's a time traveler, a la Journeyman - bouncing through time randomly - only he's done this since birth, so he's not aware that he's experiencing his life nonlinearly.

Or he's just weird.

3. Sounds Like Something I Would Remember

My mom told me that when I was a toddler she was tucking me in bed and I said "mommy remember when I died in that fire."

2. "Spooky" Is Only Appropriate Word Here

I didn't believe in ghosts until I spent the night at my aunt’s. So it was nighttime, and I was staying in the youngest cousin’s room since he had been sleeping in his sister's room for the past couple weeks, no real explanation, just that "He doesn't want to be alone at night."

I challenged my aunt on this, since usually at his age (9), boys typically want to sleep alone, to prove they're big boys now. She said, "He's nine, she's ten, it's still fine."

So, there I am, lying in an uncomfortable bed, trying to sleep, when I look towards the bedroom door, where the room nightlight softly glows behind a dark figure.

I react like any rational adult seeing a stranger in a child relative's room. I holler at the figure, and try to dramatically leap at the figure, only to flop to the ground from my legs being tangled in the bed sheets. When I look back up, the figure is gone, the bedroom door is open, but I don't hear any doors slamming, so the person must still be in the house.

I run to the master bedroom door and start pounding on it, calling for my aunt to wake up, because there was someone in the house. She blearily opens the door, asks me what's going on. So I tell her what happened. She gives me an exasperated look, takes me into the kitchen and pours me some liquor in a too large glass.

"Listen, no one was in the room."

"What?"

"I know what you saw, because I've seen it too. But there was no one there."

"Then what did I see, a hallucination?"

"I don't know, but we're just hoping it'll go away."

1. Pinch Me, Please

I was about 7 years old living with my mother, we were deep in the country visiting my aunt who owned a drinking establishment. Since it was morning and her bar wasn't open, I was allowed inside. We left shortly before she opened and while driving home from this curvy back road there was a car stopped on the road. It didn't look like anyone was inside the car, but we stopped anyways to see if someone needed a ride.

I remember vividly the two people inside the car were looking away from us towards the mountain, we asked if they were okay and both individuals turned towards us and had eyeballs the size of fists, they looked like something straight out of a nightmare. Huge eye sockets and eyeballs staring straight into my soul.

She hit the gas and we took off, I don't think we went under 60 until we were almost home.

I asked her about this recently thinking it was a bad dream / childish memory...She started to cry saying she remembered it all.

I'll never forget those giant eyeballed monsters.
