42. Car Accident Coincidence

Full of excitement while on her way to audition for Mulholland Drive, actress Laura Elena Harring got into a car accident with another actor who was also their way to an audition. After arriving to the audition, Harring quickly learned that her character gets into a car accident in one of the first scenes of the movie. Coincidence? I think not!

The scene in Mulholland Drive where Adam Kesher smashes the windshield of his producer’s car with a golf club is a direct reference to the time Jack Nicholson took a golf club to another motorist's car in 1994.

40. Hollywood Life

Much like her own character in Mulholland Drive, Naomi Watts was struggling to make it in Hollywood. After she shot the film, she was facing eviction from her apartment and lost her health insurance, two things that pushed her to the brink of leaving Hollywood. It took a good convincing by her friend Nicole Kidman to stay until at least Mulholland Drive was released. And boy was Kidman right; the film elevated Watts to a new level.
