42 Red-Hot Facts About Megan Fox

After she burst on the scene in 2004’s Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Megan Fox became an instant sensation. And why not? She’s got great comedic timing, an adventurous spirit, and oh, did I mention she’s crazy hot? When she’s not rolling in that pile of Transformers money, Fox is making cool indie choices like Jennifer’s Body and retro-fun film flicks like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Read on to find out more about this modern sex symbol.

Megan Fox Facts

42. Country Roads

Fox is a down-south girl: She was born in Tennessee to Gloria Darlene and Franklin Thomas Fox. Her parents split up when Fox was only three, and she was mostly raised by her mom.

41. Good Catholic Girl

Fox has said that her family was very strict with her growing up: They were Pentecostal and she attended Catholic school. She wasn’t even allowed to invite friends over to the family house, let alone have a boyfriend.

40. Rebel Rebel

Despite this religious upbringing, Fox wasn’t always the best-behaved kid, and rebelled a bit. She was even banned from a Walmart when she was 15 after she was caught stealing makeup.

39. Vogue

This girl was definitely no late bloomer: she began modeling at only 13 years old after she won a handful of awards at the American Modeling and Talent Convention in 1999.

38. Outcast

The actress has been very candid about the difficulties she faced while attending school as a teenager. She was bullied so severely that she had to eat her lunches in the girls’ bathroom—otherwise she was “pelted with ketchup packets” and made to feel like an “outcast.”

38. Orange You Glad to See Me?

Fox worked some pretty embarrassing jobs as a teenager. At one point, she was working at a Tropical Smoothie in Florida and had to go outside in a banana costume and dance to entice customers into the store. The most embarrassing part? The costume didn’t cover her face, so classmates would drive by, see she was in the banana costume, and bully her more.

37. We Don’t Need No Education

Perhaps as a result of this bullying, Fox doesn’t have a high regard for formal education. She has called her education in those years “irrelevant,” and she tested out of school at only 17 so that she could move to Los Angeles and pursue her career.

36. Guy’s Girl

The bombshell describes herself more as a guy’s girl than a girly girl. She has an “aggressive personality,” and has said that she’s had “only one great girlfriend [her] whole life.”

35. Spoiled Brat

Fox’s first film role came when she was only 15 years old: it was in the Olsen twin direct-to-DVD flick Holiday in the Sun. Fox played the villain, a bratty heiress named Brianna Wallace, who was the rival of Ashley Olsen’s Alex Stewart.

34. Typecast

The role in the Olsen twins film would be a premonition of things to come: in 2004, she starred in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, this time playing Lindsay Lohan’s rival Carla Santini.

33. Big Break

Fox’s big breakthrough was in 2007 in the first Transformers film. She was cast as Mikaela Banes, the love interest of Sam Witwicky (played by Shia Labeouf), and signed on to act in at least two more Transformers sequels.

32. On the Horizon

Fox has no less than three projects in the works in the future: Shadow Girl, Zeroville, and Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphin.

31. Director’s Orders

The second Transformers film, Revenge of the Fallen, brought some controversy to Fox. Her slim appearance had been criticized in the media, and Bay ordered her to gain a whole 10 pounds in order to reprise her role.

30. Controversy

Controversy arose again for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. A letter from members of the Transformers crew came out in 2009 criticizing the comments Fox had made about Bay—more specifically, the comments she made comparing the director to Hitler. The crew letter also called the actress “dumb-as-a-rock” and “ungracious.” Fox was subsequently fired from the third film, Dark of the Moon; Bay alleged that the firing orders came directly from none other than legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg, though Spielberg denies this.

29. Don’t Call It a Comeback

Although some claimed that Fox’s career was ruined because of this turn of events, she got back on her feet in 2009 with the Diablo Cody movie Jennifer’s Body; Cody had just won an Academy Award for Juno, and the Fox’s role in the film was highly anticipated.

28. Music Star

Fox appears alongside Dominic Monaghan (of Lord of the Rings fame) in the music video for Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie.”

27. Off and On

Fox has been dating Beverly Hills, 90210 actor Brian Austin Green on and off since 2004—more than 13 years. The couple met on the set of Hope & Faith, a TV show Fox starred in, when Fox was only 18 and Green was 30. Now get a load of this history: they were engaged in 2006, but reportedly called it off in 2009. They then married in 2010, but filed for divorce in 2015. Yet, in 2016 they were back together again and Fox was pregnant with their child. As of this writing they are still together, and it looks like—even with the ups and downs—they are in it for the long haul.

26. It’s a Boy!

Green and Fox have three children together, all boys: Noah, Bodhi, and Journey.

25. But Not Parseltongue, Right?

Fox is still Christian, and credits her faith with keeping her grounded. She even says that she “speaks in tongues” to this day, and started to do so when she was only eight years old.

24. Nobody’s Perfect

Fox is undeniably gorgeous, but this doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her minor flaws: she has a clubbed thumb, which is a form of brachydactyly, a medical term that just means “shortness of fingers and toes.”

23. Self Help

The actress has also confessed to suffering from chronic low self-esteem and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

22. Reconciliation

Although the Transformers fiasco brought a hefty amount of drama to her burgeoning career, Fox later kissed and made up with Michael Bay, returning to work with him as April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 2014, as well as in the 2016 sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. It’s safe to say that anyone who didn’t have a crush on April O’Neil when they were kids definitely has a crush on the character now.

21. Bonafides

Fox has been called the Sexiest Woman Alive in more ways than I can count. FHM readers named her the “Sexiest Woman in the World” in 2008, and she regularly appears on lists from Maxim and People. Chris Lee from the Los Angeles Times stated that she is a “Sex symbol of the highest order,” and someone “whose hotness has become emblematic of a specific era.”

20. Challenging the Image

She’s had some difficulties with her sexpot on-screen persona: Fox says that even though people think she’s wild and crazy, she has actually only ever slept with her high school sweetheart and her husband, and she claims she can’t have sex with someone unless she loves them.

19. Both Ways

Megan Fox identifies as bisexual, and has a crush on Olivia Wilde in particular.

18. Inker’s Regret

She started getting tattoos at age 19 to help express different parts of herself. Some of her tattoos included an image of screen starlet Marilyn Monroe on the forearm of her right hand, her husband’s first name on her hip, and a crescent moon with a star on her right ankle. She has since, however, had the Monroe tattoo removed with a bout of laser removal surgeries—she says Monroe was a negative person and she doesn’t want that energy in her life.

17. Gilding the Lily

One of Fox’s other tattoos is quite literary: she has a William Shakespeare quotation on her right shoulder that says “We will all laugh at gilded butterflies.” The line comes from King Lear, a play that explores falsity and criticizes those people who “gild” themselves instead of being honest with one another.

16. Backlash

In 2009, Fox was so over-exposed in the media that several men’s magazines, including AskMen, boycotted her image and the discussion of her career. It was called “A Day Without Megan Fox.” This sounds really insulting, but on the other hand, could you imagine being so hot that dudes don’t want to look at you anymore?

15. Nerd Alert

Fox loves comic books and video games, and is also a bit of a science fiction nerd: she loves both Star Trek and Star Wars.

14. Movie Night

She’s got some great classics on her list of favorite films: Fox loves The Lord of the Rings trilogy, How to Train Your Dragon, The Wizard of Oz, and Kung Fu Panda. Movie night at Megan’s, anyone?

13. Animal Lover

True to her last name, Fox loves animals—but not just your regular dog or hamster. In addition to a dog and a cat, Fox keeps two goats named Lulu and Coco.

12. Quick Thinking

When Fox was just starting out, she didn’t even have enough money to shave her legs. Her solution? She just wore pants all the time.

11. Libido

Although she’s not promiscuous, Fox is known for being outspoken about her sexuality. As she has said, “I'm extraordinarily sexual within a monogamous relationship. Nothing's off-limits.”

10. It’s Britney, Bitch

Fox has a fear of flying that came on relatively late, when she was 20. She deals with the phobia in an interesting way: Britney Spears. As she puts it, “I know for a fact it's not in my destiny to die listening to a Britney Spears album, so I always put that on when I'm flying because I know it won't crash if I've got Britney on.”

9. Phobia Upon Phobia

She also has a fear of the dark, people breathing, and—of all things—dry paper. In a 2009 interview with Jimmy Fallon, she confessed, “Some people don’t like nails across a chalkboard because it gives them goosebumps. I don’t like dry paper. Scripts, newspapers or anything that’s not laminated, I have to keep licking my fingers. If I’m reading I have a cup of water to dip my fingers in. I’m really neurotic.”

8. Fast Food

Fox admits that she’s really messy—she leaves her clothes all around the house—and that she can’t cook. The only meals she can make? Hot Pockets and Eggo Waffles.

7. Suffering for Her Art

For anyone who thinks that all Megan did was lean over a Camaro and look pretty in the Transformers movie, she actually lost two of her toenails during filming because of her shoes, so there.

6. Conspiracy Theorist

One of her favorite TV shows—to go along with her love of Star Trek—is the History channel’s hit show Ancient Aliens. I’m guessing that Fox probably has a lot of conspiracy theories she’d like to unload onto people.

5. Old School Rock

Fox loves Nirvana and Mötley Crüe, and says she tends to prefer guys who wear women’s jeans and nail polish.

4. Sweet Tooth

The actress has got quite a few quirks, but one of the most unique might be that she collects Pez dispensers. It helps that she’s addicted to the candy as well.

3. The Invisible Woman

If she could have any superpower, she says that she'd choose to be invisible. People probably do spend a lot of time just awkwardly staring at her face, so that power might come in handy.

2. New Girl

In 2016, Fox filled in for Zooey Deschanel on the fifth season of Fox’s hit show New Girl during Deschanel’s parental leave. Fox guest starred as Reagan Lucas, a bisexual (and no doubt sexy) pharmaceutical sales rep who rents out Jess’s room.

1. Did I Get the Part?

Very creepily, in order to make sure Fox could really work her super sexy role in Transformers, director Michael Bay forced her to wash his own Ferrari as a part of her audition. In the first Transformers, Fox appears in a now-iconic scene where she leans over a yellow Camaro in a pink crop top and denim mini skirt—you might remember it as the scene that spawned a thousand fantasies. Well, maybe Fox nailed the scene because she was so well practised at the move.
